If you've never wandered through the cracker aisle at the grocery store reading the ingredients, try it - you will be shocked to find how many additives and how much sugar even the most basic crackers often have. Almost every snack out there contains processed free glutamate, added sugar and/or preservatives. The good news is that there are actually also a lot of great crackers, chips and snacks available with no additives or sugar. We have found very few Before Natural dips aside from hummus (below) and salsa (see here). Here are some of our favorite snacks.

Triscuit Original (or Low Sodium)
Ingredients: WHOLE GRAIN WHEAT, VEGETABLE OIL (SOYBEAN OR CANOLA OIL), SEA SALT. CONTAINS WHEAT.
These crackers have the perfect combination of crunch, texture and taste, with no processed MSG or sugar. No wonder they continue to survive the test of time!

Note: Triscuit has apparently recently started adding rosemary extract to their plain triscuits - I haven't tried them yet so can't vouch for them, but will try to update this once I have!
Ozery Bakery Apple & Honey Lavash Crackers
Ingredients: UNBLEACHED WHEAT FLOUR, WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, SULFITE-FREE APPLES, HONEY, FLAX SEEDS, SESAME SEEDS, DURUM SEMOLINA, SUNFLOWER SEEDS , ROLLED OATS, WHEAT BRAN, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, SEA SALT, FILTERED WATER.
Delicious crackers for when you feel like something a little fancier!
Pita Bites Original Sea Salt
Ingredients: ENRICHED WHEAT FLOUR, YEAST, SUNFLOWER OIL, SEA SALT. CONTAINS WHEAT. MAY CONTAIN MILK AND SOY.
Crunchy, salty, delicious bite-sized crackers. Perfect for snacking or dipping in hummus!
Organic Corn Thins - Original
Ingredients: ORGANIC CORN (98%), ORGANIC EXPELLER PRESSED SUNFLOWER OIL, SEA SALT
These are a delicious organic alternative to rice cakes, and I personally prefer the texture and taste (like popcorn!) With all the news lately about arsenic in rice, and pesticides in non-organic corn, these are an especially good choice!
Snacks:
Surati Indian Pleasures Channa (Fried Chick Peas)
Ingredients: CHICK PEAS, VEGETABLE OIL (CANOLA OIL AND/OR SOYABEAN OIL), SALT, BLACK SALT, PAPRIKA AND CHILLI POWDER.
These Indian chickpea snacks are spicy and addictive! If they're too spicy for you, Surati has a few other Before Natural Indian snack products that aren't spicy (their Sev Fine for example).
Popcorn:
Popcorn Indiana Original Movie Theater Popcorn
Ingredients: POPCORN, NON-GMO VEGETABLE OIL (CANOLA OR SUNFLOWER), CLARIFIED BUTTER (CREAM), SALT.
If you're feeling so tired that microwave popcorn is just too much work, and you want amazing movie theatre popcorn in the comfort of your own home, look no further!
Que Pasa Organic Tortilla Chips
Ingredients: STONE GROUND CORN*, SUNFLOWER* AND/OR SAFFLOWER* OIL, SEA SALT, CALCIUM HYDROXIDE (HYDRATED LIME) *ORGANIC
Hands-down the best tortilla chips. These chips are made the traditional way, from unprocessed organic whole kernel corn. Note: Calcium hydroxide has been used for hundreds of years (including by the Aztecs) to soak corn to improve texture, nutritional value and flavor.
Tostitos
Ingredients: CORN, VEGETABLE OIL, SALT, CALCIUM HYDROXIDE.
There is no better chip for scooping up salsa or guacamole than Tostitos! Most of the plain Tostitos are also made without hidden MSG, sugar or harmful additives. Watch out for the multi-grain ones though, which contain added sugar... seriously. The organic version is particularly good if you're trying to avoid exposure to pesticides such as Round-Up (which is commonly used on corn otherwise).
Kettle Brand Baked Potato Chips - Sea Salt
Ingredients: POTATOES, SAFFLOWER AND/OR SUNFLOWER AND/OR CANOLA OIL, SEA SALT.
Unlike most baked potato chips, these don't contain any processed free glutamate or other additives. Be sure to choose the "Sea Salt" variety as some of their other varieties (including the "Olive Oil" variety) contain unexpected processed ingredients.
SS Frutas Plantain Chips - Salted
Ingredients: PLANTAINS, PALM OLEIN OIL, SALT.
These plantain chips are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, without any added sugar, processed ingredients or additives. I love the salted ones, but their "naturally sweet" version is actually also "before natural" (same ingredients minus the salt), if you prefer to avoid excess salt.
Hi I'm Skinny Quinoa Sticks - Ancient Grains/Sea Salt
Ingredients: QUINOA FLOUR, WHOLE GRAIN CORN MEAL, WHITE RICE FLOUR, BROWN RICE FLOUR, SUNFLOWER AND/OR SAFFLOWER OIL, CHIA SEEDS, SEA SALT
These chip sticks are remarkably delicious, non-GMO and Before Natural! They may just be my new favorite chip!
Dip:
Fontaine Santé Traditional Hummus
Ingredients: CHICKPEAS, WATER, TAHINI (SESAME BUTTER), CANOLA OIL,, CONCENTRATED LEMON JUICE, SEA SALT, VINEGAR, GARLIC.
Classic hummus at it's best. Delicious Before Natural ingredients. Perfect with pita bread, chips or veggie sticks for dipping. Note: the traditional version of this hummus is Before Natural but the other flavors are not.
